Course Description

Learn about coffees journey from its origins in Ethiopia to the major commodity it is today. From growing the cherries through grading, roasting, and brewing, this module provides an overview of the coffee value chain.

  • We will look at the origins of coffee
  • Introduce the different species of coffee, the shelf life of coffee and how to store it
  • We will talk about growing, harvesting and processing
  • We will touch on the core elements of roasting
  • Then introduce you to some brewing methods
  • You will be tasting lots of coffee!

Mixed Group:

Our mixed group sessions allow groups of students to cover the general standards applicable to the area of interest. Booking less than the maximum capacity on this course does not guarantee exclusivity on this session as other customers may also book on the same course if places are available.

Exclusive Sessions:

Our exclusive sessions allow for a more personalised 1 on 1 experience. There will be 1 student and 1 trainer and for an additional supplementary cost there is an option to add up to 5 more students to your exclusive session. The course will be adapted to appropriately address your own specific coffee needs.

All courses take place at our SCA Premier Training Campus – Roastology.

We are easily accessible by foot (10 minutes from Meadowhall Train/ Tram & Bus Station) or by car (Car Parking Available). If travelling by car, exit the M1 motorway at J34 and we are 2 minutes away from this junction.

There is a Premier Inn within 0.6 miles if accommodation is required.

Notes on disabled access: Our training room is on the 1st floor and requires access via steps and there is no stair lift available at this time. The espresso machines are on counters approximately 1 metre in height. We have one disabled toilet at ground level. If you have any further questions about access, please feel free to ask.

Terms & Conditions

Cafeology reserves the right to cancel training at anytime. In the event of Cafeology cancelling a course or module, the course fee will be refunded in full.

Travel and accommodation costs are the responsibility of the student or the students organisation.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

  • Cancellation must be received in writing prior to the event.
  • 30 days or more = Full refund minus a £35+vat administration fee
  • Between 15 and 29 days = 50% refund
  • Between 1 and 14 days = No refund will be given
  • Failure to attend = No refund will be given
